Associated Press golf writer Doug Ferguson tweeted Thursday morning that the PGA Tour will ban fans for the rest of the week at The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida, and for the next tournament at the Valspar Championship in Tampa, Florida. The ban will most likely continue for weeks beyond this timeline. The announcement was expected to be made by PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monohan Thursday.

This continues a process that has seen the NCAA cancel audiences at events, has seen the NBA suspend their season, and is no doubt on the minds of other sports organizations as they contemplate spring training.
