Chick-fil-A made an incredible announcement on Monday, when the restaurant chair revealed it would be donating $10.8 million to first responders impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

ABC St. Louis reported that Chick-fil-A, Inc. will distribute the money to local communities through its network of more than 1,800 independent Owner-Operators. The funds will be distribute through the month of June, and Chick-fil-A hopes that it will have an immediate impact on local communities, including food donations and other items to first responders and health care workers as well as to Chick-fil-A Team members and their families.

“Striving to be a supportive, caring and generous neighbor is in our DNA. Our restaurant Operators give back locally in so many ways, and this time is no exception,” said Chick-fil-A Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dan Cathy. “I’m humbled by the incredible care our restaurant teams have shown – from offering free meals to health care workers to feeding school children in need to writing notes of encouragement for guests. They know where the need is in their local community, and our goal for this fund is to support their efforts.”

This comes after Chick-fil-A teamed up with the Los Angeles Dream Center to serve 300,000 meals to families in need.

“Every morning I wake up and stand in the parking lot with our dedicated staff, I am blown away that day after day, week after week, there is enough food to provide to folks that need it,” Matthew Barnett, Dream Center co-founder, said in a statement about their efforts with Chick-fil-A.

“The Los Angeles Dream Center has transformed into the Grand Central Station of food distribution and other basic essentials. I’m so grateful that our team has stayed healthy, and that we’ve found a safe way to meet the urgent needs within our community. I can’t say thank you enough to the various donors who’ve made this a reality,” he added. “This is what a neighborhood, a community, and a church should always look like.”

Chick-fil-A has long been a brand that is known for their good Christian values, so it’s nice to see them putting their money where their mouth is. God bless Chick-fil-A for stepping up to help in a crisis when we need them most!
