—Here are 3 big things you need to know—
One — More than a dozen House Republicans are looking into what they called the Biden administration’s “potential misuse” of the nation’s strategic oil reserves. After the GOP letter was made public on Thursday, the Energy Department said the administration was using the oil stockpile as it was intended in response to market disruptions caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Two— Six people from Benton Harbor are charged in federal court with obtaining over a million dollars in COVID-19 relief. Officials accuses 45-year-old Roshell Beaty and the five others with conspiring to commit wire fraud by submitting falsified and fraudulent claims and certifications for pandemic unemployment benefits under the names of at least 61 different people. Michigan, Indiana, California, Illinois, and Arizona paid out over 764-thousand-dollars in those benefits.
And number three— President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will make a rare appearance together today to help Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman. Biden and Harris will both be in Philadelphia to help Fetterman after a rough outing in his debate Tuesday night with Republican candidate Mehmet Oz.
