Many marijuana/cannabis users are going to have a problem with this one.
I have seen avid users of the drug fight back with reckless abandon when the use is attacked or associated with accidents, deaths, or violence.
MORE NEWS: Wiki’s “Truth” Doesn’t Match Reality
Late this week, the American Automobile Association (AAA) released a statement about driving and smoking pot after research results allegedly suggest that marijuana legalization in Michigan and other states could lead to more fatal traffic crashes.
The association’s warning: Don’t dope and drive.
“Simply put, if you’ve used marijuana, don’t drive,” Jake Nelson, AAA’s director of traffic safety advocacy and research, said, emphasizing that it didn’t matter whether the drug was legal or not. “And if you plan to drive, don’t use marijuana.”
Advocates for marijuana legalization say they can agree with not driving high, but questioned assertions that making the drug legal would cause more fatal auto crashes.
Marijuana use is now legal in 11 states, including Michigan, and Washington, D.C. Another 22 states have legalized marijuana for medical use. And a Pew Research Center study last year showed two-thirds of Americans say marijuana should be legal.

You need to establish causation in the accidents and the actual influence that pot played in, causing the driver to have an accident.
Testing positive doesn’t necessarily mean that marijuana played a part in the accident. If you were to test a random group of drivers on any road or lined up to go into a restaurant, I am sure that the presence of marijuana would be higher than before legalization. Presence doesn’t mean causation. I haven’t ever used Pot even though it was at most parties I went to in college in the early ’80s.

I was and am such an anti-smoker, I would never smoke anything. I do believe pot should be legalized because prohibition doesn’t stop it and makes drug dealers very rich. The prohibition of drugs enriches and enables cartels.
