This story is a sad tale of a once bright and shining person who had the world at his fingertips and lost it all.
It’s amazing how a life can turn from beautiful to tragic in a relatively short amount of time thanks to drug abuse and also mental illness.
Deleonte West was once an NBA star. He’s played for several teams, most notably the Cleveland Cavaliers with NBA’s self-proclaimed “King” LeBron James.
In another video circulating social media, someone who appears to be West is getting kicked and punched in the middle of a busy road. The man on the ground, presumably Delonte, is laying motionless as someone else roughs him up.
Unfortunately, we’ve seen similar sad episodes before involving Delonte. He’s been seen begging for change in Maryland and looking disheveled in Texas.
As we’ve reported … Delonte spent time in a medical facility back in 2016, and he’s tried to mount a comeback to the NBA.
It’s pretty heartbreaking to see Delonte now … and folks are calling on the NBA to give one of their former stars some help. [TMZ]
This is him now. A very broken shell of a man and a far cry from the well-toned athlete he once was.

I understand that we all choose our paths – some of us make mistakes and get involved with drugs or abuse alcohol and our life can skid out of control – and I know that there’s an endless stream of homeless people on the street that are just as much in need as this man, maybe worse.
However, I believe that everyone deserves a helping hand. No one is beyond repair with God’s help. I sincerely hope someone can help this man regain his life and turn things around so he can help others who are suffering.

In addition, we need to reopen mental institutions in this country. We can’t expect sick people to “self-medicate” and take care of themselves. These people need supervision and experts closely monitoring them – at least for some extended amount of time.
Very sad to see this. Please pray for this man.
