—Here are 3 big things you need to know—
One — A severe winter storm that’s pummeled parts of the U.S. in recent days is now blamed for more than 60 deaths. Around half of those have been in New York where snowfall in Buffalo reached 100 inches on Tuesday. The weather is also disrupting travel with thousands of canceled and delayed flights.
Two— One of the men who conspired to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is being sentenced to 16 years in prison. Adam Fox was convicted in August in a 2020 plot to abduct the Democratic governor over her COVID-19 restrictions. A judge opted against the prosecution’s bid to put Fox behind bars for life.
And number three— Scientists have developed a blood test to diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease. If validated, the test could allow faster diagnosis and earlier therapies to treat the most common form of dementia. Current diagnosis methods are expensive brain imaging or a painful lumbar puncture, drawing a sample of cerebrospinal fluid from the lower back.
