A heartbreaking video is going viral this week, showing a man get bashed in the back of the head with a brick in broad daylight in Baltimore, Maryland, only to have witnesses laugh hysterically as they record him.

Baltimore police told The Blaze on Monday afternoon that they have yet to track down the perpetrator of the attack. This came after video surfaced on social media showing a man walking across the street as another man ran up behind him and smashed the back of his head with a brick, causing him to fall to the sidewalk face-first.

Just before the man was hit, a voice that presumably came from one of the people recording from across the street could be heard whispering, “bitch you bet’ not run.” After the victim hit the ground, at least two people can be heard laughing and hollering in response to the attack.

Another person yelled something that sounded like “Oh my God, he’s done!” as the victim lay on the ground motionless. Police said that the attack occurred at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, and that neither the victim nor his attacker were there when officers arrived on the scene. Cops did, however, notice a large pool of blood where the attack had taken place.

The witness who called 911 said that he had heard two men arguing, and that when the first man started to walk away, the first one picked up a brick and attacked him from behind. The suspect then fled the scene toward the Sharp Leadenhall Apartments.

Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire pointed out what the original caption of the video was when it was posted to Instagram:

“Buy more guns. Defend yourself. No one is going to do it for you,” one commenter wrote, with another person adding, “This is disgusting. These animals need to be found, prosecuted and put away for a long time. Why do that to any living being?”

“The number of these type of ambushes is horrifying! So what do we do now, just film this s**t, post online, and do nothing? I’ve haven’t seen/heard anything about this man’s condition or if anyone helped him,” a third commenter wrote. “If this is the New America so many are calling for, we’re doomed.”
