On Friday, a man not wearing a face mask was forcibly pulled off a SEPTA bus after being asked to step off and refusing.
The video of the incident (below) that went viral showed what appeared to be four police officers, backed by about six more confronting and engaging in removing the suspect in question.
Uniformed and masked Philadelphia Police Department officers lifted the man off the bus but didn’t arrest or ticket him. As you can tell, he was irate. A witness to the incident said, “All because he had no [effing] mask. He better get a [effing] mask.”

He should have been arrested and jailed immediately. What kind of selfish idiot- during this time when everyone is so scared to get the virus – would 1) not wear a mask in a crowded bus and put everyone else in jeopardy, and 2) resist the police and selfishly cause more fear and distress.
On Friday afternoon, the Philadelphia Police Department released a statement detailing how the incident began in the morning with 911 calls about a disturbance on a SEPTA bus
The bus driver asked the man to “leave the bus several times, and the passenger repeatedly refused,” said a police spokesperson.
That’s when the police officers arrived and “ordered the male to leave the bus several times. The male refused, at which point the officers physically removed him.”
I used to take the bus here in Baltimore before I was able to get my transportation. This incident is crazy. I can understand the bus driver asking the man to remove himself after a bus driver died just last week of COVID-19 (coronavirus).
The atmosphere right now is just too tense. All this media fearmongering is just dividing people and causing a bunch of chaos.
