Jeffrey Long of Spartanburg County, South Carolina was arrested and charged with breach of peace and forgery after lying about having the coronavirus.
It wasn’t that Long lied about having the virus, he forged a doctor’s note, showing that he tested positive so that he could get some time off from his Sitel Corporation job where it also affected the call center employees.
Sheriff Chuck Wright told reporters that the Sitel Corporation evacuated all their employees and shut down the building for five days of deep cleaning and sterilization. The company went a step further to advise employees who had been in contact with Jeffrey to self-quarantine for two weeks.
Sheriff Wright told reporters, “I don’t know the dollar number it cost to disinfect their whole entire building, but it was a large number. It wasn’t a hundred bucks. It was more than that.”
“It seems to me like the fella just wanted a two-week, paid vacation. You can’t do this to people,” added Sheriff Wright.
Jeff’s selfish act could land him in jail for the next three years and 30 days.
