The problems author and activist Anthony ONeal discuss in this video below are a part of a system designed to keep poor people poor; this is not an accident.

As ONeal articularly said, this is why payday loan places tend to be in the most marginalized communities. You are viewing the symptoms of a much larger problem.

It’s so sad to see how the world of debt and greed affects how much lower class people and those of my community. We need more support and courage to say that these people don’t need to be here. It’s one of the many things that inspire me to make it out and come back with the knowledge and money to take us out of this vicious cycle.

Thank you for talking about this, Anthony. Too many people are scared to talk about race and money practices. But I say, let’s talk about it. Minorities are not stupid, but they have been lied to. Anthony did an excellent job showing all the negativity our neighborhoods are immersed in.

Payday loans are a lot like loansharking, except they won’t break your knees. They’re in this business to make money, and they know how to collect in a way that costs way more than the original loan…if you can get out from under it at all. They love it when people can’t pay them off because they make even more money. Never deal with any of these rackets.

Wealth disparity, born out of desperation, not reckless spending, of course, you’re going to go to buy here pay and payday loans if it’s ingrained in you if that’s all you see for several blocks and everyone in your circle, does it.

How many fast-food joints did you see? How many liquor stores did you see? How many lottery advertisements did you see? It’s a whole different life when it pertains to the black community because they want to use to commit suicide if not physical suicide, definitely financial suicide. The lack of knowledge is killing our community faster than ANYTHING else!
