Well, that didn’t take long. Democrats haven’t even finished celebrating their midterm victories, and the party’s far-left activists are already sharpening their knives – this time for one of their own.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is poised to become the next Speaker of the House after Tuesday’s absurd Democratic landslide. And he would become the first Black Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in American history if elected to the position.

But there’s a problem. A growing faction of the party’s progressive base doesn’t want him anywhere near the speaker’s gavel. Why? Jeffries supports Israel. And as we know, that’s just a big no-no to the crazy left progressives in the party right now. A unforgivable political sin.

Hollywood actor and progressive activist Mark Ruffalo, best known for playing the Hulk in Marvel movies, is helping lead the charge against Jeffries.

He promoted a Change.org petition urging House Democrats to reject Jeffries when the new Congress convenes in January.

And Jeffries isn’t the only Democratic leader in the crosshairs. In response to Ruffalo’s post on X, some Democrats are also calling for longtime Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer to be shown the door too.

The petition, which currently has more than 543,000 signatures, says, “Hakeem Jeffries is simply not the right choice” and labels him as part of the “Democratic establishment.” Many of the supporters left comments on the page that echo the same sentiment. And many supporters are attacking Jeffries over his longstanding support for Israel and his ties to pro-Israel political organizations.

So much for Democratic unity.

Jeffries has consistently defended Israel’s right to exist and its security, including supporting American military assistance to the Jewish state. He’s also criticized certain Israeli policies, but that distinction doesn’t seem to satisfy some of the party’s increasingly vocal anti-Israel activists.

The Blue Wave Is Already Eating Its Own

Jeffries officially launched his bid for Speaker on Wednesday and remains the overwhelming favorite, with no serious challenger emerging so far.

Senate Might Have Same Problem

The Democratic infighting isn’t limited to the House. Michigan’s newly elected Democratic Sen. Abdul El-Sayed is refusing to commit to supporting Chuck Schumer as Senate majority leader. Progress Muslim El-Sayed told the Associated Press, “I do believe we need new leadership and I think people are hungry for it.” By Thursday, he was openly backing Sen. Chris Van Hollen as a potential replacement if he seeks the job.

So the leftist spectacle is already underway and Democrats can expect plenty more of it over the next two years. Perhaps that explains why impeachment hearings will be so tempting. After all, what better way to distract Americans from their own fractured, far-left, loony base than to keep the spotlight on Trump and his administration?
