Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom may have just given Americans a sneak peek at the Democratic Party’s future. Spoiler alert: It looks a lot more socialist.

In an undercover video posted by Townhall, Newsom, a potential 2028 presidential contender, suggested that the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and their political agenda are headed straight for the Democratic mainstream.

“The DSA, the energy and the desire and demand for bold change, not incremental change, is very much going to be dominant,” Newsom said. “That’s going to be a mainstream Democratic movement. Absolutely. No question about that.”

When approached by someone posing as a younger voter demanding more democratic socialist policies instead of another Kamala Harris candidacy, Newsom didn’t exactly rush to defend the party’s establishment.

“You can’t play in the margins anymore,” he said. “The system’s broken.” He also said, very Kamala-like, “We have to completely reimagine.”

His comments were pretty amusing, considering Newsom recently said he would step aside in 2028 if Kamala Harris decided to take a third shot at the White House.

Newsom’s comments in the undercover video aren’t an official endorsement of the DSA, but they certainly suggest he sees its influence growing.

And for Democrats still insisting their party isn’t moving toward socialism, Newsom just exposed that lie as fake news.

The elephant in the room? It’s starting to look like a donkey wearing a socialist red sweater.
