If Democrats were hoping to showcase their best and brightest ahead of November’s elections, Indiana candidate Jaime West might want to skip the next interview. The Democratic candidate for Fayette County Council has gone viral after delivering a bizarre, rambling anti-Republican tirade during a recent candidate forum. Many sharing her viral video speculated that she was intoxicated. For her sake, let’s hope they’re right – because if this is how she normally behaves, that’s even more troubling.

Asked what unpopular decision she would make if elected, West offered a rather unusual campaign platform: “Firing all Republicans.”

She then complained about MAGA supporters, calling them racist and unintelligent, while declaring she doesn’t like being around Republicans and she doesn’t talk to them. West also claimed a sheriff’s nephew had threatened to kill her. But Fayette County Sheriff Zac Jones told Fox News he has five nieces and no nephews. So much for that accusation.

And Then Came the Grand Finale

Asked for her closing message to voters, West stared into the camera and announced, “We have guns too.”

Not exactly the traditional promise of better roads, lower taxes and responsible government. The interview left social media users questioning whether they were watching an actual candidate or a comedy sketch. Unfortunately for Indiana Democrats, it wasn’t an SNL skit.

Perhaps the most remarkable part of the whole spectacle was the interviewer, who somehow managed to keep a straight face and carry on as though it was a normal interview as West was delivering her political meltdown.
