Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico has made his Christian faith a centerpiece of his political brand – but apparently there’s more than one road on his campaign map to heaven.

James Talarico is running against Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for the U.S. Senate seat in the Nov. 3, 2026 general election.

In a resurfaced video, Talarico said other world religions have “equal pathways to truth,” describing different faiths as routes toward the same “divine mystery.”

And he wasn’t vague about it.

“Whether it’s God or Yahweh or Allah or Nirvana, the Great Spirit, whatever you call it,” Talarico said, they are different pathways toward the same fundamental truth.

It’s an interesting theological sales pitch from a candidate who regularly invokes Christianity while campaigning – particularly since traditional Christian teaching holds that salvation comes through Jesus Christ.

Apparently, when you’re fishing for votes from every corner of the Democratic coalition, even the road to heaven needs multiple lanes. Because nothing says deeply held conviction quite like telling everyone that there’s a theological option for everybody.
