Apparently losing a Republican primary (BIGLY) wasn’t enough political excitement for Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie. Less than a week after being defeated by Trump-backed candidate Ed Gallrein, Massie filed paperwork for the 2028 House race to keep his committee active for fundraising as a current officeholder and potential federal candidate.

He insists he hasn’t made a final decision on whether he’s running for president or not, saying, “I haven’t made a final decision about which office to seek if I run.”

Yes, Massie appears to believe that X is real life and that he has a substantial base of support. To be fair, he does attract backing from some vocal anti-Trump activists as well as figures on both the left and right who have been accused of promoting antisemitic views.

Whether that coalition translates into meaningful support to win ANY election is another question entirely without MAGA backing him for many reasons.

Massie has built a loyal following among libertarians and anti-establishment conservatives by opposing spending bills, foreign interventions, and, more recently, pushing for the release of Epstein-related documents. But he also just lost a high-profile primary battle after President Donald Trump backed his opponent.

If Massie does run again for the House – or for president – he’ll need to convince Republican voters that the guy who couldn’t win his own congressional primary should be trusted to win anything including White House. That’s a tough sales pitch.
