Feeling better is rarely about some magical powder, biohack, or influencer in matching workout clothes telling you to “optimize your wellness journey.” Most people already know what they need to do. They just keep hoping there is a shortcut that does not involve bedtime, vegetables, or drinking plain water like a responsible adult.
Sleep is not optional.
If you are only getting five hours of sleep every night because you are doomscrolling until midnight, the problem is not mysterious. Your body needs rest. Not “I closed my eyes while the TV was on” rest. Actual sleep. Not like President Trump.
Water is a necessary thing.
Coffee tastes great. Diet Coke has its place. But if your body is running on caffeine, sugar, and vibes, there is a decent chance you feel lousy because you are dehydrated. Start drinking water before you get diagnosed with seventeen rare health conditions.
Move your body, even slowly.
You do not need to train for a triathlon. A walk counts. Stretching counts. Waddling around the block while muttering about your knees still counts. The human body was built to move, not just sit in a chair slowly fusing to it. Have a dog? That’s even better. Take a lot of walks – it’s good for both of you.
Eat like you care whether you survive.
Eat protein, fruits, and vegetables – and less junk. This is not groundbreaking. Neither is the fact that living on drive-thru food and stress snacks tends to make people feel terrible. You don’t need to run out and get a GLP-1 injection either. You need to quit eating Doritos for breakfast.
The truth is that feeling better often starts with doing the boring things you already know you should be doing. It’s not glamorous but extremely effective. Start now. Try at least one of these things. You’ll thank me later.
