Florida just reminded everyone that driver’s license tests are for knowing how to drive in the country that you are living in. Yes, they are about road safety, not language flexibility. Under their new rule, all driver’s license tests must be taken in English, with no interpreters or language switching.
According to the Daily BS, the Sunshine State has finally said enough is enough: starting last Friday, February 6, driver’s license tests are now in English. Period.
The reasoning is simple: road signs, safety warnings, and law enforcement instructions are overwhelmingly in English. It’s kinda hard to follow those things if you’re guessing words like they’re Scrabble tiles.
Yes, common sense has finally prevailed. At least in Florida.
Republican Governor Ron DeSantis said about the change on X recently, “Good reform by @FLHSMV (Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles) to require driver exams be conducted only in English. Need to be able to read the road signs!”
Now imagine this everywhere – every state, same rule. The roads will be safer and maybe illegal aliens won’t be crashing into people and killing them any more.
