Missouri’s attorney general has stepped in to point out what should have been obvious all along. The state is suing the U.S. Census Bureau, challenging the practice of counting people in the country illegally for purposes of congressional apportionment.

The beef? Including illegal aliens and temporary visa holders in the census has diluted Missourians’ political power, costing the state a seat in the House of Representatives and electoral clout – conveniently advancing a Democratic strategy that was never accidental.

The Missouri AG, Catherine Hanaway, wants a redo of the 2020 census and a ban on counting “non-citizens” in 2030. She also wants to remove all non-citizens from the 2021 apportionment across the rest of the country saying “Foreign trespassers should not control the direction of this nation.” This could ultimately result in the transfer of 11 congressional seats out of the hands of blue states like California and New York.

Critics will point out the Constitution says to count everyone, not just legal Americans – but the lawsuit leans on the idea that only actual Americans should factor into representation. Critics also point out that this ignores existing census law which says on the website of the Census Bureau in the FAQ on who is counted “The resident population counts include all people (citizens and noncitizens) who are living in the United States at the time of the census. People are counted at their usual residence, which is the place where they live and sleep most of the time.”

The results of the lawsuit could have national consequences and it certainly looks like a case that would be moving to the Supreme Court in the end. If counting illegal aliens is curtailed, blue states that have deliberately encouraged and absorbed large numbers of illegal aliens would see a significant drop in political clout, losing seats in the U.S. House and votes in the Electoral College.

This explains why Democrats are fighting so hard to keep the current system intact – and every single illegal alien in the country – whether they are a criminal or not. It’s all about elections and their power – and Democrats are not about to give it up easily.
