You’d think that if someone shows up at a protest who is already a convicted sex offender and then gets busted for harassment and disorderly conduct, they might at least spend a little time behind bars before being handed back to society, right?

Think again.

According to the Daily Caller News Foundation, in Leftist Portland, 39-year-old Andrew Simmons, a convicted sex offender with a history of failing to register, was arrested during an anti-ICE protest after allegedly pushing a bike officer. Isn’t that assault against a peace officer? Seems serious to me. But thanks to a liberal Multnomah County and its “justice” system, he was released on bond within 24 hours.

Welcome to America 2.0, where jail is just a brief pit stop, repeat offenders rack up 30-plus arrests, and authorities don’t seem to notice until someone ends up dead. Even then, the “justice” system is on the side of the criminal and not the victim or their family.

No, Simmons isn’t an outlier. Court records show that other protest defendants with criminal pasts – including a transgender rioter who threw a butcher knife at federal officers – got time served and were back on the streets. Yep. Time served. And this is the kind of thing happening all over the country.

This is the new America that the Democrats have dreamed about for a long time and have been able to accomplish due to defunding police and getting as many leftist judges and prosecutors in place as they can.

Across the country, from Portland to other liberal jurisdictions, big and small, the same pattern plays out – jail and prison beds stay empty, bonds stay low or non-existent, and criminals stay free. The message is painfully clear: “If you break the law, we might catch you…but then immediately we will let you go. Unless the media screams. Then we might have to investigate – at least for a little while.”

Meanwhile, law-abiding Americans are left wondering: Is anyone actually being held accountable anymore? The answer to that is no.

You hear Dems brag about how progressive cities are “better” because they’re kinder and more forgiving and more equitable. But when the result is a convicted and repeat offender getting a fast pass out of the jailhouse, forgiveness stops being noble and starts being dangerous.

If criminals are just going to get bounced back onto the streets — no matter the offense or past – then America doesn’t just feel unsafe – it is unsafe.

And it’s not just homegrown criminals making Americans look over their shoulders. It’s the criminal illegal aliens Biden let pour across the border as well. That’s the mess President Trump is trying to clean up with ICE – while the Left bends over backward to defend people who broke the law to get here and keep breaking it once they arrive.
