In a plot twist that would make even the Grim Reaper spit out his coffee, a 65-year-old Thai woman, identified as Chonthirat, scheduled for cremation, decided she wasn’t quite ready to kick the bucket. Moments before being sent to her fiery farewell, workers at a temple heard knocking from inside Chonthirat’s coffin.
Doctors had previously declared Chonthirat dead. Temple staff were preparing a body for cremation when they noticed the coffin moving. When they opened the coffin, they found the woman inside breathing and tapping on the wooden lid.
Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, where she’s recovering and reportedly doing better than the medical professionals who made the call in the first place. She was found to be suffering from extreme hypoglycaemia which she was treated for.
Videos of the coffin-tapping comeback are now burning up the internet and turning her into an overnight resurrection celebrity.
She had reportedly been bedridden for nearly two years, with her health steadily declining during that time, according to her brother.
The family is grateful for the miracle – though one imagines the temple staff will be double-checking pulses from now on.
