Beth Bourne, chair of the local “Moms for Liberty” chapter, decided that all those school board meetings where she talked (and got ignored) were getting stale – so she upped the ante. Turns out if people won’t hear your voice, they might notice your bikini.
According to The Daily Bo Snerdley, during a Davis, CA school board meeting, Bourne dropped her outer layers during public comment and revealed a bikini. Her rationale? If the board is squeamish about a 50-year-old woman baring midriff, maybe they shouldn’t force teenage girls at their junior high school to share intimate locker rooms with biological males.
Predictably, chaos ensued. Board members appeared shocked and called recess, not allowing her to complete her comments even though she told them they were violating her First Amendment rights.
The meeting resumed in about five minutes and Bourne was able to continue her comments – and she stripped again. They recessed again – for 30 minutes this time. When they came back, they moved on to other things, not addressing what she had done or said.
Bourne told CBS News, “I thought I made a really good point.”
In the end, the board’s takeaway wasn’t about protecting kids though – it was about protecting themselves from swimsuit shock. Apparently, they can’t stomach a mom in a bikini – and are looking at how to prevent it in the future – but they’re perfectly fine telling 13-year-old girls to strip down next to biological males in their own locker rooms.
