So, in case you missed it between TikTok dances and cat videos on Facebook, Google just announced it might be reinstating some YouTube accounts that were axed during the Biden years because President Dementia didn’t like what people said about COVID-19 and the elections.
In a letter to the House Judiciary Committee dated September 23, in response to subpoenas, Google’s parent company, Alphabet, had its chief counsel concede what many of us already knew: that the Biden administration “created a political atmosphere” to influence the actions of social media companies based on the Democrats’ definition of “misinformation” – which in practice meant censoring conservative voices and shutting down many accounts outright.
According to the website Catholic Vote, even though Alphabet said that doing what it did was wrong and that those at the company “fought” against the efforts on First Amendment grounds (they didn’t appear to fight very hard), they ceded to the wishes of the government. And let’s be clear, I don’t think it really took THAT MUCH arm-twisting for the censorship to happen.
Google, which owns YouTube, shut down lots of YouTubers who were telling all kinds of truths that the Biden administration didn’t want told. According to Fox News, normal folks were shut down as well as high-profile ones like former talk show host/now FBI Deputy Director, Dan Bongino; former White House counterterrorism adviser Sebastian Gorka; and “War Room” host Steve Bannon.
However, now those who had “repeated violations” for the COVID-19 and election “misinformation” they spread can possibly be let back on the platform – YEARS later after things have evolved for Google (more like the evolution of subpoenas in its lap).
Could they be afraid of a lawsuit possibly coming from Trump administration? Hm…. Or maybe they just want to make sure that the lies from THEIR Leftist buddies and THEIR misinformation (lies about Charlie Kirk and Antifa) can stay online.
In their letter to Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), Committee on the Judiciary Chair, the attorney for Alphabet talks about their unwavering “commitment to free expression” which we all know DOESN’T EXIST.
Other phrases in the letter: “We value conservative voices…”
“Bias towards a particular viewpoint is not in line with the Company’s values…”
“YouTube takes seriously the importance of protecting free expression and access to a range of viewpoints.”
Yadda, yadda, yadda…
They even talk about “transparency regarding government interactions with private platforms” being “essential for fostering public trust and upholding principles of free expression.” But what led to their transparency? It wasn’t voluntary. It was government subpoenas.
Let’s be real: the whole game was making sure Biden and his team – along with the help of social media platforms – could silence the right voices at the right time, when it mattered most. Mission accomplished. Now that the damage is done and the pressure’s shifted, they are pretending like they care about free speech when we know they’ll do the exact same things when the next Democratic administration gets in the White House.
And let’s also be real about what’s going on. The YouTubers have to go through an application process for a “limited pilot project” open to a “subset of creators” with no guarantee of approval.
We’ve had a lot of questions about a pathway back to YouTube for some terminated creators to set up a new channel. This will be a limited pilot project that will be available to a subset of creators in addition to those channels terminated for policies that have been deprecated.…

So to wrap this up…Alphabet/Google/YouTube is cracking open the door – but only a crack. Maybe things will change and maybe they won’t. This “limited pilot project” is more like a probation program than a real reinstatement, with creators forced to re-apply and no guarantee they’ll ever get back in. After years of shutting people down when it counted most, this move feels less like repentance and more like damage control. The bottom line? They’re not embracing free speech – they’re just trying to look like they are now that Trump is in the Oval Office.
