If Republicans get their political clocks cleaned two weeks from today, they might want to look in the mirror before blaming President Donald Trump. After all, voters handed the GOP control of Washington to get things done, not to watch congressional Republicans perfect the art of doing absolutely nothing.
While headlines focus on political battles, high gas prices, and foreign conflicts, President Trump has quietly delivered several accomplishments that deserve attention, but have been largely ignored.
Progress Beyond the Political Headlines
President Trump’s administration has negotiated most-favored-nation pricing agreements with 26 pharmaceutical manufacturers, aimed at lowering prescription drug costs and covering a large share of the branded market. More than 250,000 veterans newly enrolled in VA healthcare during the first eight months of 2026 amid expanded outreach and operational changes. The administration has directed nearly $25 billion in USDA loans and grants toward rural infrastructure, housing, and economic development. It also approved temporary diesel fuel tax relief to ease costs for truckers and farmers. On October 19, Trump signed an executive order expanding federal research into women’s health, including menopause, infertility, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s. These initiatives have received less evening-news attention than other stories, yet each targets concrete costs or access issues that affect everyday life.
These are concrete steps taken by the White House and federal agencies. By contrast, what have Republicans in the House and Senate actually delivered? Not much of anything at all – just like Trump’s first term. However, there ARE those who are blaming Trump for the possible blue wave heading our way.
In a Daily Mail commentary, conservative Brilyn Hollyhand, who is a 20-year-old conservative political commentator, author and Republican activist from Alabama, warns that Republicans are losing the enthusiasm of young men who helped put Trump back in the White House.
The ongoing war with Iran and soaring fuel costs aren’t exactly inspiring young conservatives to rush to the polls. One 23-year-old MAGA supporter told Hollyhand, “I don’t like foreign wars. I don’t like six-dollar gas.” Those are two things that seem to be on everyone’s mind, especially the youngsters.
Democrats Have the Enthusiasm Advantage
An Alliance for Youth Power PAC/YouGov survey found that 60% of young voters surveyed in four competitive Senate states, including Michigan, planned to support Democrats. That’s not exactly a ringing endorsement of the Republican majority.
All Talk, No Action?
Republicans have spent plenty of time holding hearings, making speeches and promising results since Trump was re-elected. But where are the legislative victories voters were promised?
Even Republican Sen. John Kennedy has acknowledged the party’s lack of accomplishments in his always-unique way, saying, “We haven’t done a darn thing and it’s biting us in the ass.”
