After years of investigations, subpoenas, impeachment proceedings, criminal cases and congressional hearings targeting President Donald Trump and his allies, Democrats have apparently discovered something horrifying: Politicians being investigated by the government.

And suddenly, they’re not fans.

According to a report from Breitbart News, more than 170 House Democrats are demanding the Justice Department back off its investigation into Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, whose immigration history is under scrutiny.

Reps. Jamie Raskin and Pramila Jayapal are leading the charge, accusing the Trump administration of weaponizing federal law enforcement.

Yes, weaponizing law enforcement. Imagine that. I know. Try not to laugh too hard over that one.

These are the same Democrats who spent years defending investigations into Trump, his administration and his supporters. But now that one of their own is under the microscope, they’re reaching for the emergency brake.

Jayapal is even discussing cutting funding for the investigation if Democrats regain control of the House.

Omar denies wrongdoing, and the allegations remain unproven.

But here’s a thought: If investigations are legitimate when Republicans are the targets, shouldn’t the same standard apply to Democrats?

I think we all know the answer to that question.
