Just days after Palm Beach International Airport was renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport, United Airlines hit turbulence of its own when reports surfaced that an internal memo instructed reservation agents to help passengers switch flights if they didn’t want to land at an airport bearing Trump’s name.

According to the leaked guidance, travelers could be rerouted to nearby Fort Lauderdale or Miami without paying a change fee. Yes, for passengers triggered by having to land at the Trump airport, they were going to be able to reroute their itinerary (and their outrage) for free.

The memo even suggested agents tell customers, “I understand that you’d rather not fly to this airport anymore,” before offering an alternate destination.

After the memo went public, United quickly tried to pull up on the yoke, calling it a “poorly worded” internal message and insisting the airline’s official policy does not allow flight changes simply because someone dislikes an airport’s name.

But that’s just the PR statement they had to come up with because they got busted. The memo was clearly in English and easy enough to understand – which is why they had to figure out how to walk (or fly) back the comments.

Apparently, for some TDS mental patients, the quickest way to get away from Trump isn’t at the ballot box – it’s at the departure gate. While most people worry about flight delays, baggage fees, or getting stuck in a middle seat, these passengers get coddled like the Karens they are because they don’t want to see DJT anywhere.
