If you’re getting legal whiplash on abortion pill rulings, you’re not alone. Just days after the 5th Circuit slammed the brakes on the abortion pill mifepristone being available though mail-order, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito hit pause on the pause.
So where does that leave things? Somewhere between “restricted” and “not so fast,” depending on which judge you ask – and what day it is.
The high court’s temporary stay keeps the status quo alive (for now), meaning abortion pills can once again be prescribed via telehealth and shipped by mail while the legal fight drags on.
But don’t get too comfortable. This isn’t a final ruling – it’s more like a legal timeout while everyone huddles up to argue again.
