Trump doesn’t have a crown or a castle – but a reunion with royalty could be in his extended family plans.

Democrats have been waving their “No Kings” banner like it’s 1776 all over again in their opposition to the president and his policies. Every protest they schedule against him gets dressed up as a dramatic showdown against imaginary tyranny, with Trump cast as a crown-wearing strongman rather than a duly elected president operating inside the same messy system as everyone else.

It’s less “down with the monarchy” for the left and more political cosplay – complete with slogans, outrage, and a whole lot of pearl-clutching – while the actual work of governing gets shoved offstage in favor of the latest anti-king soundbite.

But there’s a new twist in the “No Kings” narrative. Although Trump doesn’t currently have a purple robe and a golden throne, there may be a meet-and-greet with monarchy in his future. A new report from the Daily Mail suggests Donald Trump and King Charles III could be distant cousins (something close to being 15th cousins), thanks to a shared ancestor from 16th-century Scotland.

In other words: same historical roots, even though they’re living in different zip codes.

Trump didn’t exactly downplay the discovery. He joked about chatting with the King about it and hinted about moving into Buckingham Palace.

The joke might have landed as humor – but the headlines didn’t stop there. With recent reports pointing to new U.S. passports featuring Donald Trump’s image, some are wondering if the next step is swapping out King Charles III on British currency for a Trump-in-a-crown edition.

The “No Kings” crowd might want to sit down for this one: the guy they keep accusing of playing monarch might actually have a drop of royal blood after all.
