It sounds like a rejected line from the soup counter on Seinfeld, but it may soon feel a little too real for Coloradans. It’s a Democrat-backed proposal aimed at “saving the environment” that would stop restaurants from automatically including free napkins with your meals. Or complimentary utensils or straws or condiments.
So if you want any of those things, you’d better remember to ask nicely or prepare to channel your inner Soup Nazi experience.
A newly proposed bill in Colorado would stop restaurants and delivery services from automatically including single-use items like napkins, utensils, or condiments unless you specifically ask for them. Yes – your tacos, burgers, and chili might arrive hot and ready to go, but you? You’ll have to use your hands and fingers to eat your chili and you’ll need to use your shirt to wipe off your mouth.
The bill’s text laughably says that customers are “frustrated” with the amount of single- use items they receive with food-service orders. No, they’re not.
Customers are frustrated when they don’t get forks for their salads, ketchup for their fries, straws for their drinks or any napkins in their bags. And now, Colorado Dems want this to happen on PURPOSE because it’ll help save the environment.
NO IT WON’T. These people are insane.
Burton Brown, the executive vice president of the conservative think tank Advance Colorado Institute says about the bill, “If this passes, your local Taco Bell can be fined up to $1,000 for giving you a napkin with your order if you didn’t request it.”
The real villain in this story isn’t massive industrial pollution – it’s a bunch of psycho Democrats who want to continue to control your life – and not in a good way.
“Socialist rule at its finest,” says Brown.
