San Francisco Pinterest is now pinning AI ahead of actual humans as it quietly trims roughly 15% of its workforce (700 jobs) while touting shiny new algorithms as the next great thing in digital inspiration.

According to a Daily Mail report, managers say they’re reallocating resources to AI which, in CEO speak, means let the bots do the heavy lifting while the humans pack up their desks.

Once a place where real passion boards and crafty DIY guides thrived, the company has decided to sew fewer jobs and knit more code into its corporate sweater. Their plan is to “shift resources toward AI-focused jobs, build more AI-powered products, and change how it sells and markets its services.”

Layoffs and office shrinkage are pitched as strategic transformation, but for those who lost their jobs it’s less collage of opportunity and more cut-and-paste survival.

In the end, Pinterest’s board might be full of AI-generated inspiration, but the human touch? That’s getting unpinned off the wall.
