After the shooting death of a woman with the last name “Good” (irony noted), who was killed after accelerating her vehicle toward an ICE officer at an anti-ICE demonstration, Michigan Democrats wasted no time racing to vilify ICE following the deadly confrontation in Minneapolis – moving faster than a kid chasing a dropped Twinkie.

U.S. Democratic Senator Gary Peters (MI) made a statement on X saying that the shooting was “horrific” (it was) and “avoidable” (it was – the obstructionists should not have been there). But he also said, “The Department of Homeland Security’s public statements about this incident are not only reckless – they appear to be outright falsehoods. If this Administration can label anyone a domestic terrorist to deflect responsibility, then every American is at risk.”

GOP Rep. Lisa McClain pushed back on the criticism, blaming Democrats in her post: “This is what happens when Democrats continue to DEMONIZE LAW ENFORCEMENT.”

Other Michigan Democrats reacted swiftly and harshly to the shooting, with Michigan Detroit Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Shri Thanedar both condemning ICE. Tlaib accused the agency of killing a woman who was trying to “drive away” and called for ICE to be abolished outright, saying it has become a “rogue agency.”

Thanedar echoed the outrage, calling ICE agents “untrained thugs” and renewing his push to eliminate qualified immunity so agents are held to the same legal standards as other Americans.

Democratic Senate candidates also joined the criticism. Rep. Haley Stevens called the death “unacceptable,” blaming what she described as “masked, armed, and untrained agents that Trump is lawlessly deploying to our cities and causing more harm…”

State Sen. Mallory McMorrow said the administration’s “security theater” had deadly consequences, while Abdul El-Sayed argued the shooting was the predictable result of deploying personnel who believe they are above the law onto otherwise “peaceful streets.”

Michigan Republicans, in addition to McClain, are standing with ICE. State Senator Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt (who is running for governor) defended ICE and said they are not the problem. He posted, “Trying to run over law enforcement, throwing rocks at them, and trying to impede them from doing their job isn’t ‘protesting’. It’s domestic terrorism.”

Former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox, also running in the GOP gubernatorial primary said, “Supporting illegals, fraudsters and liberal extremism over federal law enforcement officers is something you will NEVER see in Michigan when I’m Governor.”

At this point, the script writes itself. If ICE is involved, Democrats rush to condemn the badge, sanitize their own behavior, and blame Trump – no matter who escalated the incident or how. Illegal alien criminals, violent protesters, and even someone driving towards an ICE officer all get the same

treatment: reframed as victims, while ICE becomes the villain of the day. Accountability is reserved for everyone except the Democrats causing the chaos.
