If you’ve been scrolling Facebook or your X news feed lately and noticed it’s mostly posts about Epstein, Maduro, the January 6 candlelight vigil by the Democrats, Minneapolis and Greenland, here’s an update for you: there are massive protests erupting all across Iran – and much of the Western media is handing out the silent treatment like it’s a Who’s That? round on Jeopardy.
For more than two weeks, Iranians have taken to the streets in cities all across the country, first driven by economic collapse, skyrocketing inflation and food prices. Now they are demanding actual government change. One reason so many Iranians took to the streets is that (exiled) Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi publicly called for action for the first time, urging citizens to stand up against the regime and signaling a rare, unifying moment for opposition forces inside and outside Iran.
Millions, not just a few “locals,” face brutal crackdowns including from reported foreign militia involvement by Hezbollah and others. To crackdown against their own people, the Iranian regime shut off the internet nationwide – literally pulling the plug on global communication to hide what’s happening and to stop Iranians from communicating with each other.

Security forces are reportedly opening fire with live ammunition, killing dozens – maybe hundreds – of protesters including children. Death tolls vary widely because the government’s internet blackout means verification is not easy. Information is limited with most details coming from videos, eyewitness accounts, and human rights organizations. The attorney general of Iran even declared demonstrators “enemies of God,” a designation that carries the death penalty.
The protests are being described as broader and more geographically dispersed than past movements, drawing protesters from both small towns and major cities, and cutting across economic lines from the wealthy to the poor.
Yet tune into most U.S. cable channels or trending news apps and you’d think the biggest global crisis is President Trump, not ACTUAL dictators in other countries who threaten the safety of the United States, their own people and the rest of the world.
So while the Iranians risk their lives for freedom, maybe they should change their PR strategy to something that would attract the attention of CNN or the New York Times. Here’s some advice: Hold up some signs that say “Trump Caused This” or “Oppression Funded by Washington” or “Hands Off Iran, Nazi Trump.”
A handful of media outlets actually paying attention are reporting that what’s unfolding could spell the beginning of the end for Iran’s ruling mullahs. Trump is almost certainly working behind the scenes, which may explain the media’s collective shrug. Acknowledging a genuine revolution in Iran would also mean acknowledging another
possible Trump-era foreign policy success. And that’s a headline the Left seems unwilling to talk about – even if it means a safer world and the collapse of a brutal regime.
