New York City has officially entered a new era with democratic socialist and Muslim Zohran Mamdani’s ruling over the city.
The Mamdani administration is starting off the year by not even being able to manage the basic logistics of their own victory party. Supporters showed up to celebrate Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral inauguration on January 1st and were rewarded not with available food or bathrooms, but with a banned list of items (like strollers), long waits, and the unmistakable scent of amateur hour. They were also “rewarded” with the presence of AOC and Bernie Sanders in attendance (I’m pretty sure they were able to eat and go to the bathroom).
Regardless of his lack of hospitality for his own supporters, Mayor Mamdani is promising a bold new future: expanded government programs, sweeping economic reforms, and a socialist makeover for the Big Apple. Sounds ambitious. Unfortunately, the early previews suggest his administration is not up to the task of governing.
As with most Democratic leadership, what voters actually get isn’t results – it’s big promises, lofty rhetoric, and endless talk about “equity.” They spend most of their time marketing the message instead of managing the job. In other words, they perfect the poster board and forget to do the assignment.
For those of you who still think Mamdani will be able to keep the city prosperous and safe, good luck with that. At the inauguration, he said, “We will govern without shame and insecurity, making no apology for what we believe.”
And for those of you who don’t know what a Democratic Socialist is, it is not pretty. Besides “economic equality,” they also advocate for public ownership of key industries, unsustainable spending without revenue, high taxes, weak enforcement of laws, and they constantly overpromise services… the list is long and so will be the wait lines for everything.
NYC already struggles with crime, housing shortages, illegal alien overflow, and crumbling transit. Now it’s being handed to leaders who can’t even coordinate portable toilets.
So good luck, New York City. You’re about to find out whether “democratic socialism” comes with a refund policy – or at least a working restroom.
