Looks like the grocery carts across America will remain empty unless Democratic senators get their heads out of their you-know-whats and pass the Republicans’ continuing resolution by Saturday. If not, SNAP (Socialism’s National Appetite Plan) benefits for roughly 42 million Americans will screech to a halt – all because Democrats refuse to vote for it.

Republicans have brought the continuing resolution up for a vote thirteen times, and every single time Democrats have shot it down like a can on a fence post.

According to Reuters, the expiration of SNAP benefits would hit low-income families immediately, cutting off funds for groceries just as prices keep climbing. CBS News reports that the GOP’s stopgap bill keeps the lights on and food stamps funded, but Democrats want more spending for their favorite programs – including benefits for illegal aliens and other Democratic priorities.

So here we are: Republicans trying to keep the shelves stocked, Democrats playing politics with dinner. The irony? The same folks who claim to “fight hunger” are the ones letting the fridge go empty.
