So you thought your local government was boring? Enter Hamtramck, Michigan: two square miles of pure election drama, where absentee ballots are all the rage – and apparently valuable enough to be whisked around town in black SUVs for clandestine drop-offs.

Two city council members in Muslim-led Hamtramck, Mohammed Kamrul Hassan and Muhtasin Rahman Sadman, not content with just waiting to see how voters feel about them, reportedly took their civic duties to a whole new level of petty creativity in the 2023 elections (primary and general), allegedly orchestrating a scheme to collect signed-but-blank absentee ballots from voters, filling them out for their pals, and in the process racking up felony charges like forgery, fraud, and filing false statements.

But it’s not just them – a citywide problem was uncovered in a mostly ignored 2024 Project Veritas investigation, where progressive Democrats admitted that Muslim political power in the city was built through voter fraud. Former Republican state senator and business owner Patrick Colbeck posted about it again in a recent X post to remind everyone about it.

Key quotes from the Project Veritas investigation:

  • “These guys go door to door and take people’s ballots. They bully them… intimidate.” – August Gitschlag, Certified Michigan Elections Official
  • They call it the Midnight Meetings… and they auction them, they bid for them [ballots]. – Lynn Blasey, Hamtramck City Council Candidate (2021, 2023)
  • “This is another thing that you can’t say out loud. The absentee ballots are being filled out in people’s dining rooms by the candidates.” – Karen Majewski, Former Hamtramck Mayor (2006-2021)
  • If everything’s good, we can drop [the ballots] to the City Hall. City Hall has that [ballot] box. We can drop it there.” – Hamtramck Councilman Mohammed Hassan

Breaking News.

Enter a surveillance video that’s lighting up the internet: footage (via ClickOnDetroit) shows Hamtramck Councilmember Abu Musa – in the passenger seat of a black vehicle – handing off stacks of absentee ballots to the driver, who then ominously drops them in the city’s official drop box days before the primary election this August (which he won). He’s also being investigated, along with City Council members Muhith Mahmood, for not being a resident of Hamtramck.

If Hamtramck’s city motto isn’t “Where Ballots Take the Scenic Route,” it might as well be. Between council members chauffeuring ballots like VIP guests, living-room ballot-filling parties, and bidding wars that make eBay look like a church bake sale, the political playbook here reads more like a mob script than a municipal charter. And in Hamtramck, it’s not a scandal – it’s just another day at City Hall.
