Comedian and television host Bill Maher was on his HBO throne last Friday, August 22, and boiled it all down for us why Trump won the presidency for a second time.
Maher said that while Democrats chase broad, lofty ideals like “equity” and saving the soul of America, Trump kept it real with ideas and promises that normal Americans cared about including tax-free tips, winning over the TikTok audience, and “he got the people for whom toilets are very important vote.”
Apparently, Trump’s crusade against low-flow toilets is what won him the presidency. Because, of course, it couldn’t possibly have been anything serious – like immigration enforcement, cracking down on crime, or his foreign policy stance. Surely it wasn’t because the Democrats had gone so far off the rails that voters were repelled and refused to back them. Whether Kamala or Old Joe Biden was at the top of the ticket, neither was exactly a winning choice.
Why does Maher think the Democrats’ worn-out strategy – branding everyone a racist and shrieking that Trump will single-handedly destroy democracy – is a winning formula, no matter which uninspiring candidate they trot out?
I’m sure loser Kamala Harris’s book, 107 Days, dropping September 23, will serve up even more nonsense about why she lost and Trump won. And I’m sure that’ll be as full of B.S. as any toilet that Maher is talking about.
