Once upon a time, “parenthood” meant guiding people through pregnancy – or, in Planned Parenthood’s case, helping them skip it altogether. But now? Apparently it also means hormone shots, chest binders, gender identity consultations and puberty blockers for 14-year-olds.
Let’s be real: Gender therapy has about as much to do with parenthood as a vasectomy has to do with babysitting. Yet Planned Parenthood has leaned into it, offering hormones like candy while quietly closing clinics that offer things like pap smears and prenatal care – y’know, actual medical services for actual women.
According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, Planned Parenthood is in a financial nosedive – and that’s mostly due to their friendly Democrats no longer running the federal government and sending them barrels of cash. In the meantime, they are pivoting to “gender-affirming care,” as the second largest provider of hormone therapy in the U.S.
Apparently, in 2023, according to the Manhattan Institute, about 40,000 patients went to Planned Parenthood for “gender medicine.” About 40% of them were between 18 and 22 years old. Additionally, from 2017 to 2023, they treated about 12,000 kids 12- to 17- years-old for gender dysphoria.
Good luck to PP. The abortion advocates might champion trans causes, but their focus is on ending unborn lives. I doubt the donations will keep flowing like they used to if that is no longer the main focus for Planned Parenthood.
