The internet’s left-wing echo chamber just cooked up its latest nothingburger – er, taco – and it’s as interesting and spicy as a plain rice cake. Social media has been ablaze lately with “TACO” memes, accusing Donald Trump of “chickening out” of a tariff showdown with Mexico.

That’s right – Democrats think they’ve struck comedic gold because Trump didn’t start a trade war. So are we supposed to be mad he avoided higher prices for avocados?

The so-called “TACO” acronym – “Trump Always Chickens Outoriginated in May 2025 from a Financial Times newsletter column called “Unhedged” by Robert Armstrong. He coined the term to describe a pattern where President Donald Trump announced aggressive tariffs, causing market drops, only to later scale them back or delay them, leading to market recoveries. This became known as the “TACO trade” among investors.

To Trump, it’s called negotiating. However, deciding not to hammer U.S. consumers with sky-high guacamole prices is a sign of weakness according to the left.

When asked about the term and “chickening” out by a reporter recently, Trump said, “Oh isn’t that nice – ‘I chicken out.’ I’ve never heard that…”

Trump went on to say, “You call that ‘chickening out?’ It’s called negotiation.”

But let’s be honest – this isn’t about tariffs. Or about America. It’s about progressives trying to serve up memes as political caviar because they’re panicking over Trump’s rising poll numbers and the possibility of MAGA actually happening. If Trump cured cancer, they’d complain about all the unemployed oncologists.

The real comedy here is watching leftists unite over a meme that criticizes Trump for not starting a trade war. Imagine calling someone a coward because they used diplomacy instead of economic destruction. This is what happens when your entire political strategy is based on snark and hashtags instead of policy or reality.

In the end, the TACO crew is just giving Trump another win and it’s an advertisement for liberal ridiculousness. The president, on the other hand is working for America, helping to give businesses the opportunity to be successful.

The bottom line? Trump hasn’t chickened out at all – not at the Democrats, the prosecutors aiming to jail him, the impeachment circus, Putin, Iran, North Korea, or even the folks allegedly trying to assassinate him. And certainly not over tough trade talks. He’s just cooking up better deals – and when they are done, Democrats might want to wipe the salsa off their smug little faces.
