That’s right – flowers are now getting hate-crimed.

Vandals hit the Nichols Arboretum’s famous Peony Garden in Ann Arbor, Michigan, over the weekend, chopping off the blooms of almost one-third of the peony plants. This was a targeted protest where they left behind papers that said “Plant lives don’t matter. Human lives do.” The flyers went on to say that Palestinian lives deserved to be cared for more than the flowers. They also said “Replace your U.S. flag with a Palestinian flag.”

Nothing screams “revolutionary hero” like attacking 100-year-old plants. The peonies, to their credit, declined comment.

Why did this happen in Ann Arbor? Because the city has become a flashpoint for antisemitic and pro- Palestinian activism, particularly among University of Michigan students, as seen in repeated protests at the school and even vandalism at the homes of university regents. And it’s only 30 minutes from Dearborn, which is home to one of the largest and most established Muslim populations in the country.

This Michigan stunt at the Nichols Arboretum is just the latest bloom in a nationwide garden of hate. Let’s review:

• In Michigan, a man was arrested last week for allegedly plotting a mass shooting at a Jewish daycare.
• Nationally, a suspect in the Colorado synagogue firebombing was revealed to be an illegal alien and Palestine supporter.
• Meanwhile, former Arkansas Governor and current U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, is catching flak for daring to suggest that media coverage has fanned the flames of antisemitism by reporting fake news about Israel. Trump, not surprisingly, is blaming Biden’s open border. Heaven forbid anyone notice the obvious.
• And in case you missed it, Just the News reported that violent leftist attacks are ramping up – often with the blessing or blind eye of Democrats too busy pandering to the loudest, wokest corner of their base.

Back to the garden… This wasn’t just some bored teenager with scissors and a Sharpie. Officials are treating the incident as a crime. That means law enforcement is on it – assuming they can spare time from prosecuting prayer outside abortion clinics or ticketing lemonade stands of teenagers without permits.

So what’s the takeaway here?

If peonies can’t exist in peace, what chance do people have? This isn’t about flowers. It’s about a culture that excuses hate when it fits the right narrative – and buries it like compost when it doesn’t. Whether it’s daycare plots, synagogue attacks, or garden desecration, the message is clear: antisemitism is growing, and too many are content to let it flourish.
