In the latest episode of political theater, leftists have taken to mocking Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem by dubbing her “ICE Barbie,” including in the headline of a serious story in the Daily Mail recently. This nickname, dripping with condescension, is a transparent attempt to belittle a woman who doesn’t fit their ideological mold.
The nickname “Ice Barbie” surfaced after Noem appeared looking, apparently, way too attractive for the liking of Democrats, during a ride-along with ICE agents in New York City, where she helped remove dangerous illegal aliens off the streets. Many anti-Trump leftists on social media latched onto the moniker, mocking Noem’s looks rather than focusing on the actual work being done – with the treatment of Noem being met with silence from the Democrats.
The Leftist outlet The Daily Beast said, “Noem donned a bullet-proof vest and a cap with a police crest – while still looking like she’d stopped off at hair and make-up – to pose alongside ICE and DEA agents, some of them carrying assault rifles.”
This isn’t the first time Noem has faced such attacks. Her commitment to border security and her polished public image have made her a target for those who can’t reconcile a woman’s femininity with authority. The “ICE Barbie” label is a sexist jab, implying that a woman can’t be both stylish and competent – which, in the case of the Democrats, is most likely the truth.
Maybe these leftist sexists should heed what loser Hillary Clinton has said during a town hall event in New Hampshire in 2015 when she complained: ”I think it’s a little bit difficult being a woman in the public eye because you are judged so much on your appearance, and it’s not just what you wear, but how you look, how you sound, how you carry yourself. Men don’t get that kind of scrutiny.”
Democrats have been whining about the media treating women politicians differently for a while now but when it’s against a Republican, it’s perfectly fine. The irony couldn’t be more obvious: the same political party that claims to champion women’s rights and denounce sexism is often the first to tear down a Republican woman who doesn’t share their views. They pull the same stunt with Black Republicans too – mocking them as “Uncle Tom” and even accusing them of being part of the “racist” Republican party.
It’s a glaring double standard: femininity and being a minority is celebrated when it aligns with leftist ideals but mocked when it doesn’t.
