If you live in Michigan, especially northern lower Michigan, you’ve probably asked yourself lately, Will winter ever end? Spoiler alert: Probably not for a while. The snow is here, and it looks like it has no plans of leaving anytime soon. Mother Nature took one look at the Great Lakes State and said, “You get a blizzard, you get a blizzard, everybody gets a blizzard!”

Traverse City took another beating over the weekend with a fresh blanket of snow covering the landscape in a winter wonderland. Sure, locals are used to winter’s wrath, but the past few years have been relatively mild. Not this time – storm after storm has buried the city in relentless snowfall. It got so bad that even DoorDash threw in the towel, shutting down operations on Saturday. That’s right – if you didn’t stock up on frozen pizzas and ramen, you were out of luck. Welcome to the snowpocalypse, where the only thing piling up faster than the snowdrifts is the regret of northern lower Michiganders not moving to Florida permanently.

Even the weather advisories can’t sit still. One minute, it’s set to expire at 7 p.m. – but hold on, now it’s extended to 7 a.m. the next morning. Wait, scratch that – make it 1 p.m…At this rate, the advisories, watches and warnings might as well be permanent fixtures until March.

At this point, plenty of folks are practically begging for a little climate change if it means an early spring. But as for when winter plans to pack up and leave? That’s anyone’s guess.

The Farmers’ Almanac tried to warn us – predicting a wet, snowy, and cold winter. Not exactly a bold call, but this year, it feels like the snow machine is stuck on overdrive.

So, will the snow ever end? Eventually, yes. Until then, bundle up, stock up on hot cocoa, DoorDash when you can, snuggle up with your dog and cat – and take lots of naps so you don’t have to look at the snow outside of your window.
