Donald Trump just dropped an executive order that’s bound to send the open-borders crowd into a tailspin. His new policy slams the brakes on taxpayer dollars funding the housing, transportation, and care of illegal aliens, cutting off the endless stream of cash that’s been fueling the border crisis. In other words, Trump is telling all the greedy folks like NGOs and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) to find another sugar daddy.
For years, these groups have been swimming in federal grants, using your hard-earned tax dollars to bankroll their so-called “humanitarian” efforts – better described as a well-oiled machine shuttling illegal aliens into American communities with zero accountability. But with Trump back in the driver’s seat, the ride might finally be over.
Of course, the USCCB isn’t going down without a fight. The bishops, who seem more interested in making lots of money than in saving souls, have filed a lawsuit against Trump, demanding a restart of their government gravy train.
Should religious groups be raking in millions from Uncle Sam to play social justice travel agent for illegal aliens? Many don’t think so. It’s funny how their big commitments to “helping the poor” never seems to include American citizens struggling to make ends meet. What about Americans who are homeless or disabled? What about veterans?
It’s not just the bishops who are freaking out. The entire network of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that have been profiting off illegal immigration is scrambling to find a Plan B. These groups, many of which masquerade as charities while pocketing millions in federal contracts, have relied on a steady flow of taxpayer dollars to keep the border crisis running smoothly.
Without those funds, their ability to flood sanctuary cities with illegal aliens takes a serious hit. Yes, the poor illegal aliens will no longer get free cell phones, gift cards, cushy hotel rooms, business loans or other Democratic bribes so they will vote for them someday.
By signing this executive order, Trump is essentially telling these NGOs and religious groups to do what they claim to do – help people – without using taxpayer money as their personal ATM. If they’re so committed to the cause, let them raise private funds instead of forcing middle-class Americans to foot the bill.
