In a move that would make even the most generous philanthropist blush, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has been caught reportedly funneling over $22.6 billion into grants for illegal aliens between 2020 and 2024 according to the New York Post. That’s right – while you were budgeting for groceries and trying to pay your electric bill, Uncle Sam was busy playing Santa Claus to the world’s migrants.
The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), a subdivision of HHS, has been the chief elf in this operation, distributing billions to various nonprofits as well as directly to illegal aliens. The shopping list? Cash for cars, home purchases, and even seed money for business startups. Yes, the American Dream is still very much alive – for those who enter the country illegally – thanks to Democratic policies that have been put in place to pave the way for future citizenship and, ultimately, more voters for the Democratic Party.
The most significant slice of this generous HHS pie – $12.4 billion – was allocated to programs supporting unaccompanied migrant children. Truly heartwarming, until you realize that the Biden-Harris administration lost track of 320,000 of these kids, placing many with unvetted sponsors.
In fiscal year 2023 alone, the HHS doled out more than $10 billion to various organizations, all while expanding the number of non-citizens eligible for funding. Coincidentally, this spending spree aligned with a record-breaking 2.4 million border encounters that year – the highest since record-keeping began in 1960.
The government’s lavish spending acted (purposely) as a “giant magnet” for illegal immigration, incentivizing more and more to make the journey. And why wouldn’t illegal aliens want to come into the U.S. in droves with all of the free stuff that the Democrats were handing out?
So, while American citizens navigated economic uncertainties (and still continue to do so), it’s comforting to know that our hard-earned tax dollars have been hard at work to make sure illegal aliens have had access to the American Dream.
