The Democrats don’t believe in the Constitution – and they had an absolute field day when the Covid pandemic hit. Talk about a gift! They skirted election laws and all kinds of Constitutional rights including the first and second amendments. They were truly in heaven during those times.
They reveled in telling us what we could (and couldn’t do) and telling us who was and wasn’t essential. It was a dream come true, especially for leftists like Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer who came out with new Executive Orders every other day until she was stopped by the Michigan Supreme Court. But then she just had her health department issue the orders and things were all rosy again.
The leftist want to do the same, eventually, when they get President Disaster to declare a “climate emergency” or some other kind of emergency to control us again. But in order to see if that would work, their Democrat friend, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, has stepped up with an attempt to strip away the Constitutional 2nd amendment rights of the people in her state by declaring a fake emergency.
Last week, Grisham suspended open and concealed carry of firearms in Albuquerque for a 30-day period declaring a gun violence public health emergency after the shooting of an 11-year-old boy outside of a baseball stadium.
Give me a break.
But even some Democrats know this chick is crazy. Democrat Congressman Ted Lieu wrote on X/Twitter, “I support gun safety laws…However, this order from the Governor of New Mexico violates the U.S. Constitution. No state in the union can suspend the federal Constitution. There is no such thing as a state public health emergency exception to the U.S. Constitution.”
Just the News reports that the National Association for Gun Rights is suing on behalf of an Albuquerque resident, asking the U.S. District Court in New Mexico to block implementation of the order.
Even leftist David Hogg thinks the governor is nuts. He said, “I support gun safety but there is no such thing as a state public health emergency exception to the U.S. Constitution.”
No kidding. Let that be a lesson to the Biden administration as well.
