The internet has been buzzing, saying that the FDA has approved ivermectin as a Covid treatment, more than three years after the pandemic began, with COVID-19 having killed 1,137,742 people in America and with 38,867 confirmed deaths in Michigan.

But that is not the truth and truth is what we should all be dealing with. What DID happen is that the FDA admitted, during oral arguments in a court case which was filed by doctors who stated they were “harmed” by the FDA when they were trying to treat patients, that doctors can prescribe treatments off-label if they choose to do so.

The court filing said that the FDA overstepped their authority by “repeatedly directing the public – including health professionals, professional organizations, and patients – not to use ivermectin for COVID-19.”

And that was true enough.

But Ashley Cheung Honold, a Justice Department attorney who represented the FDA, said during an August 8 hearing that the FDA “explicitly recognizes that doctors do have the authority to prescribe ivermectin to treat Covid.”

The FDA X-ed/tweeted on August 16th about the recent social media rumors concerning ivermectin, saying, “We’ve seen lots of chatter about ivermectin in the last week. Some of what you’re seeing in videos and social media posts isn’t true. Here are the facts:

  1. 1)  Although FDA has approved ivermectin for certain uses in humans and animals, it has not authorized or approved ivermectin for use in preventing or treating COVID-19, nor has the agency stated that it is safe or effective for that use.
  2. 2)  Health care professionals generally may choose to prescribe an approved human drug for an unapproved use when they judge that the unapproved use is medically appropriate for an individual patient. As always, talk to your health care provider about available COVID-19 vaccines and treatment options. Based on your health history, your provider can help determine the best option for you.

Do you support individual military members being able to opt out of getting the COVID vaccine?

This “your doctor can decide what’s best for you” approach is quite different than what was going on in the throes of the anti-ivermectin movement. In fact, there’s an article that is STILL up on the FDA’s website – titled, “Why You Should Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent COVID-19.”

In fact, they even tweeted out in the past, “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.”

Because of FDA’S position years ago, and the fact that Republicans were pushing the drug, ivermectin treatment became the enemy of the Democrats, their leftist supporters and the drive-by media who came out in droves discrediting ivermectin.

Headlines screamed to people that they shouldn’t be considering a “dangerous” drug to treat COVID-19. CNN said, “CDC warns against use of anti-parasitic drug ivermectin for Covid-19, as calls to poison control centers increase.”

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow said that misguided people were taking the “anti-parasite animal drug” and their website said that lying about ivermectin (that’s the right lying about it, not the left) was killing people.

The Washington Post had an article titled “How those ivermectin conspiracy theories convinced people to buy horse dewormer.”

The American Medical Association (AMA) still has a web link about “Why Ivermectin should not be used to prevent or treat COVID-19” strictly because it’s not approved by the FDA for that use. In September of 2021, they said they “strongly oppose the ordering, prescribing or dispensing of ivermectin to prevent or treat COVID-19 outside of a clinical trial.”

I’m sure that the American Medical Association can be trusted to give us good advice, right?!

After all, in June, the AMA told us that it’s perfectly fine for gender-confused children to take puberty blockers and have permanent surgery – and they have gotten on the trans-train to call it all “gender- affirming care” instead of gender “mutilation” or “malpractice.” They also called racism a “public health emergency” during the protests concerning George Floyd.

So excuse me if I don’t trust the government or any of their leftist “science” or “medical” buddies like the AMA to give me medical advice.

Luckily there were many, including our own Steve Gruber, who took ivermectin when they were infected with COVID-19 and were able to fight the virus and get better. Just like the FDA says now, and just like the leftists keep saying about abortion and gender care, it’s a decision that should be between you and the doctor. But that’s NOT what the FDA was pushing at the beginning of the pandemic.

Kentucky Senator (and physician) Rand Paul accused the scientific community of not objectively studying ivermectin as a COVID-19 treatment because of their “hatred of Donald Trump.”

That appears to be true, because while they couldn’t be bothered to do any decent studies on ivermectin and its use to treat COVID-19, they certainly had time to do a study on the “Impact of Trump’s Promotion of Unproven COVID-19 Treatments.”
