If a large amount of Americans ignored the government’s mask mandates during the pandemic, I really don’t think they’ll be paying attention to any of their new alcohol guidelines under the “Dietary Guidelines for Americans.”

Nevertheless, the government always thinks they know what is best for everyone and is always making sure that they tell us so. That may come soon in the form of Biden’s health czar, Dr. George Koob, telling us that we should only be drinking two beers a week.

Dr. Koob is with the National Institute of Health, the same organization that Fauci came from, and is an “internationally-recognized expert on alcohol and stress, and the neurobiology of alcohol and drug addiction.”

With drinking guidelines up for review in 2025, Koob is eyeing changes to match the recommendations in Canada.

The recommendations are definitely NOT going to go the way that most Americans would like. Koob, who says there are no “benefits” to drinking alcohol in terms of physical health, has also said, “’I mean, they’re (recommendations to drink) not going to go up, I’m pretty sure.”

According to IBISWorld, there are 69,485 bars in America. And although there isn’t a lot of Bud Light being drank at these bars, there is still much beer-drinking going on in America – and it’s often more than two beers at a sitting, let alone two a week.

Overall, according to beerinfo.com, beer consumption per adult age 21 and over is around 28.2 gallons per person per year (about a 6-pack per week). In Michigan, it’s about 26.8 gallons per person per year.

So while the country is bellying up to the bar, the government, as usual, is doing their best to be a buzzkill.
