Still reeling from the Dobbs decision which overturned Roe vs. Wade, the Democrats continue to do everything in their power to make sure women can continue to abort their babies.

CNN reports that New York Governor, Democrat Kathy Hochul signed a bill into law on Friday that grants protections to doctors who prescribe abortion pills to patients who are out-of-state.

CNN says that the law will block “out-of-state litigation, prohibiting prosecution against doctors in New York who provide telehealth services, prescribe medication abortion, or deliver reproductive health care to patients living in states with restrictive abortion laws.” CNN also reports that telehealth medication abortions have accounted for an increasing share of total US abortions since last year’s Supreme Court ruling that established there is no constitutional right to abortion.

In fact, as of 2020, more than half of abortions in the United States are conducted using medication.

Governor Hochul tweeted after signing the bill, “NEW: I just signed a law to protect women seeking abortion care from New York doctors. Our law ensures providers can prescribe & send abortion medication to patients in states where it is banned. Draconian abortion bans put lives at risk. We will never back down from this fight.”

Hochul joins other Democrats across the state including Michigan’s Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer in “fighting like Hell” for a right to abortion.
