In the wake of the shootings on the Michigan State University campus, partisan Democrats who want to further their gun control agenda have declared open season on thoughts and prayers.
Michigan Democrat and House Majority Whip Ranjeev Puri (D-Canton) kicked off the war by tweeting out “F*ck your thoughts and prayers” at the beginning of his released statement the day after the shooting.
Being the good little hypocrite that Democrats are, however, he went immediately into offering his thoughts on the situation by saying, “I want to extend my deepest condolences to the Michigan State University community, who are experiencing unimaginable trauma and grief after a shooter opened fire at multiple locations across Michigan State’s campus.”
Puri demanded action in his statement and said his office would continue to work tirelessly to pass “common sense” gun reform immediately.
State Democratic Rep. Kelly Breen (D-Novi) also tweeted out “F*uck your thoughts and prayers” in support of her Democrat counterpart.
But they weren’t alone in declaring war on thoughts and prayers. Other prominent Democrats got into the game as well – sans curse words.
Democrat Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said, “The time for only thoughts and prayers is over” and called on a ban on firearms at polling stations.
Not to be outdone by the rest of the thoughts and prayers police, Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer tweeted, “The time for only thoughts and prayers is over. We are in a unique position to take action and save lives. And that’s exactly what we are going to do in the weeks ahead.”
Apparently the BIG man at the top of the political world didn’t get the memo though. President Biden offered up his thoughts and prayers in a statement where he said, “Jill and I are praying for the three students killed and the five students fighting for their lives after last night’s shooting at Michigan State University. Our hearts are with these young victims and their families, the broader East Lansing and Lansing communities, and all Americans across the country grieving as the result of gun violence.”
We’ll keep an eye on things and see if Biden comes out in the near future to condemn offering any more thoughts and prayers to anyone.
