During the course of the day I read at least two dozen news stories from various sources.

I read the wire services and several publications for work. I also read other sources for personal edification. They range from American to foreign publications and also span the gamut from left to right.

One thing I have noticed recently is that even conservative publications like FNC have decided to use the term “transitioning” when referring to people of one gender who become another. That’s the context and definition these publications seem to embrace.

Just one problem.

The very process is impossible. There can be no “transitioning” because gender can’t be changed. Oh sure, a person can live their lives as a member of the opposite sex. But actually change genders? That is biologically impossible. Nevertheless, the term is in general usage.

Orwell understood the way the dictionary is used to control the debate. In his book 1984 he writes of a conversation between characters Winston Smith and totalitarian chieftan Big Brother. Says Big Brother, “Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thought-crime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it…Has it ever occcured to you, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?”

Do you support individual military members being able to opt out of getting the COVID vaccine?

By accepting “transitioning” in the lexicon we also accept the underlying premise that one can change genders. That moves the debate onto territory favorable to the hard left and antithetical to traditional values.

The same process occurred decades ago with the term “underprivileged.” Not “poor” anymore, but lacking in privileges that others seem to have. Really? Privilege?

Most people who are successful in America have the “privilege” of working long hours after many years of schooling. Private lives can be damaged, decades lost in pursuit of career, families hurt. Where is this supposed privilege? The left took the fruits of long term hard work and made it seem as this was something that magically fell from the sky and alighted upon a fortunate few. What utter manure.

We hear today about “male privilege.” Ah yes, to paraphrase Jordan Peterson, the privilege to die in wars, a vast propensity for heart disease, much higher rates of incarceration, etc. Some privilege. Not to mention traditional masculine values are now termed by some as “toxic.”

That toxicity happened to develop the Western world to such a point that woke philosophers can develop absurd theories in the cloistered safety of their ivory towers, completely oblivious to the fact that the only reason they have the freedom to spew their inanities is because traditional males died for their right to do so.

Or maybe, not so oblivious. Maybe they, like Big Brother, know exactly what they’re doing. As such, don’t play into their attempts at mental conditioning. Don’t let the left control the dictionary and win the war of words.
