Out of all the tripe coming out of last week’s Senate impeachment trial, one of the most ridiculous was Delegate Stacey Plaskett, Democrat of the USVI, playing the race card.

As I was watching the defense video I knew the Democrats would go for that because it’s such a regular part of their playbook.

Plaskett claimed the defense was singling out women and people of color. Now granted, there were certainly examples of such in the defense video. But that is easily explainable, as women and those not of Anglo-Saxon extraction (Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, AOC, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, etc.) do make up a large part of the vicious loony wing of the Democrat Party. So it is normal and natural they would show up in any compendium of Democrats inciting violence.

The funny and fake part is that Plaskett attempted to portray these people as victims. Of course, that is the stock and trade of the Democrats. Everybody is a victim and thus everyone, if you meet the hard leftist definition of victim, is eligible for government cash and preferential treatment. But to try and portray the Speaker of the House and various powerful politicians as victims is laughably absurd. These are successful people who live well and have risen to high spots in their given profession. Yes, their profession is doing all they can to damage the United States, but that is non germane for this reasoning.

They join others like gays, other minorities, and various PC demographics in the Democrat parade of fake oppression. I can speak to some part of that, as I’m a minority three times over. I’m not saying oppression doesn’t exist in America or anyplace in the world. What is true is that it so rare in America as not to be a significant factor in society. In fact, the exact opposite is true. The pop culture, media, academia, government, and most other levers of power in the country roll over backwards for the people Democrats would tell you are oppressed. As I once said to my college student daughter, “You don’t get to play the oppressed rebel card when everything you believe in gets standing ovations at the Tonys.”

Nevertheless, the shrill cry of oppression goes out like the peasant ideologue scene in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” It’s because Democrats know there is political profit to be made by encouraging self pity. That’s why the Democrats, in some ways, are not a real political party at all, but merely a collective of cacophonous grievance groups battling for crumbs from the table of leftist budgetary schemes. They cry oppression because they know it works. That’s a bad comment on them. It’s a worse comment on modern America.
