Months after the supermodel Tyra Banks controversially replaced Tom Bergeron as host of “Dancing With The Stars” after he was abruptly fired over the summer, she has found herself in hot water with fans over a “tone-deaf” picture she posted on social media.

Over the weekend, Banks took to Twitter to write, “Fun fact: I love ordering the same dish from multiple food delivery apps & restaurants at the same time…for real! When the goods arrive, I rate and compare everything. Then I know what to order from in the future, and what to skip. Where’s your fave place to order delivery from?”

Yahoo News reported that this immediately backfired on Banks, with fans pointing out that the post was “tone-deaf” given how many people had been left jobless amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

“A reminder that the pandemic and economic crisis only affect the poor. The rich are living their normal life of abundance,” one social media user wrote, with another adding, “I had a panic attack about spending $23 on delivery the other night & have been dipping into savings to pay for groceries. I understand you did not have malicious intent with this post, but I hope you’ll understand why people are not responding positively. Americans are starving.”

Another social media user suggested that Banks instead order food for the homeless.

“Tyra, if [you]’d like to show off some more, why don’t [you] post a screenshot of all your bank accounts?” the user wrote. “Can [you] imagine, in a pandemic, with so many people worried about where they’re going to get their next meal, you’re boasting that you order all at once just to rate which is best?”

“People all over the country are going to bed with empty stomachs, Tyra. Delete this,” someone else added, with another fan joking, “Picturing Tyra Banks going crazy in her house playing America’s Next Top Takeaway.”

Since the new season of “Dancing With The Stars” premiered back in September, Banks has received more than her fair share of criticism, as many fans have said they want Bergeron brought back as host. Last month, Banks said she ignores negative feedback, explaining, “You know what’s so crazy is I don’t read it.”
